Weareco is a second generation family business that is now approaching 40 years in the custom and uniform apparel business.

1979

Our business was established as Ys Clothing Company, a ladies retail clothing outlet. Ys was approached to produce and supply uniforms to one local school that needed a new uniform. The success of our first foray into uniform design led to Ys becoming the supplier of uniforms to a number of local schools. To meet our growing school client base, we soon began manufacturing uniforms and supplying other items including socks, hats and shoes.

1985

With a reputation for providing exceptional service and a complete range of school clothing solutions our business continued to expand and we opened our first shop at Aspley which later became our manufacturing facility.  Our Aspley store still exists today.

1991

We purchased and opened our head office and production facilities at Ross Street, Newstead, where our head office is still based today. We also opened our Holland Park store, which also still exists today.

1998

We seized on an opportunity to further increase our supply network outside and grow our customer base outside of South East Queensland. Our Rockhampton retail outlet and distribution centre was opened, which also still exists today. It was during this time that Ys Clothing pioneered the concept of ‘In-School Retailing’ to offer schools a professionally managed uniform shop on their premises. We now have more than 35 Wearitto Smart Clothing Centres operating in schools and 2 standalone Wearitto stores at Aspley and Rockhampton.

Today

Today we are an industry leader of in-school retailing and a leading manufacturer of smart clothing solutions for school, work and play.

In 2013 we saw an opportunity to think more carefully about who we are, what we do and where we want to take the business in the future. This process involved a full rebrand including our renaming to become Weareco, the Smart Clothing Company.
